Nokia Partners with DoCoMo to supply 5G networks by 2020

Since 2014 Nokia, has been working with the Japanese operator DoCoMo on trials of 5G equipment. Nokia is a major supplier to DoCoMo in both the 3G and 4G network eras. Recently, Nokia has announced that it has entered a partnership with Japanese telecom company NTT DoCoMo to supply 5G the telecom company with wireless radio stations by 2020. Nokia has signed its first major deal with Japanese telecom operator NTT DoCoMo. It promises far faster data rates, greater capacity and quicker response times.

This is Nokia’s first sizeable deal for its flagship mobile base station equipment. The contract is based on official global New Radio (NR) standards for the fifth generation of wireless networks.

However, no one knows about financial terms yet. Because The financial side of the deal has not been disclosed by either Nokia or DoCoMo.

Nokia mentioned in statement that:

The deal contemplates DoCoMo starting commercial 5G network service by 2020, in time for the Tokyo Olympics, initial installations are expected in greater metropolitan Tokyo with a national roll-out to follow in subsequent years.

For the local connections between users of mobile phones and computing devices with the backbone of any operator’s network, the 5G antennas and related base stations play pivotal role.

Nokia said:

It will work with DoCoMo to ensure a smooth transition from existing 4G networks.

The new equipment has also ensured DoCoMo, that by providing wireless links of wireless sensors, it will provide new services for autonomous driving, industrial automation and smarter homes. The future of wireless data is closer now than ever.
